Benno E. Lischer was the former dean of Washington University School of Dentistry, serving in that role from 1933 to 1945. Lischer also was an alumna of the dental school, having obtained his D.M.D. in 1900. After graduation, he was made professor of orthodontics until 1924, and had a private practice at the same time. He resigned in 1924 to teach orthodontics at University of Michigan and University of California until his return to St. Louis to become dean.
