Ludwig Bremer (1844-1914) was a prominent St. Louis-based German doctor who came to the United States in 1865 to study medicine. He received his medical degree from St. Louis Medical College in 1870, and practiced in Carondelet and Belleville until 1880. After finishing his medical studies in Europe in 1883, Bremer returned to St. Louis, where he served as the chair of physiology and pathology at Missouri Medical College, and president of the St. Louis Medical Society. His areas of study included histology, pathology, neorology, and haematology.
