Herbert S. Gasser (1888-1963) was a physiologist who recieved (jointly with Joseph Erlanger) the Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine in 1944 while serving on the faculty at Washington University School of Medicine. He received his M.D. from Johns Hopkins University and later served as a professor of physiology at the Rockefeller Institute for Medical Research.
