Vivian Jean Echols, cadet nurse at Washington University School of Nursing became the bride of Pfc. Edmund Vincent Cowdry Jr. on September 11, 1944. Her parents were Mrs. Ellen Barnette Echols of Carbondale, Ill, and Melvin Echols of Danville, Illinois. She graduated in February 1945.

Edmund V. Cowdry jr , the bridegroom, was a senior at the Washington University School of Medicine with the Army Specialized training program. He was slated to report for internship at a Detroit Hospital.following his graduation in June 1945. E.V. Cowdry Jr. earned his bachelors degree at Princeton in 1942.
