Biographical history
George Ormiston, MD, F.R.C.P.Ed. began his internship in pediatrics at the St. Louis Children's Hospital in 1931. After additional training in pediatrics at Rush Medical College in Chicago, he returned to St. Louis Children's Hospital and Washington University as an Instructor in Clinical Pediatrics in 1933 through the 1935 academic year. After returning to the United Kingdom he worked with the Medical Research Council in London. During the Second World War he served as a medic in North Africa. Later he would work at the Southampton Children's Hospital and the Royal Hants County Hospital, Winchester, UK.
Scope and content
This small collection consists of a 5 page typed memoir entitled "Recollections of St. Louis" by George Ormiston dated September 18, 1964. In it Ormiston recalls his experiences with St. Louis Children's Hospital and Department of Pediatrics staff including faculty members William McKim Marriott, Jean V. Cooke, and Alexis Hartmann and staff members Anne Perley, Marie Morton, and Mrs. Schlueter.
