The majority of this collection is comprised of Dr. Suntzeff’s reprints. Also included in this collection are photographs and various items relating to her personal and professional life. Dr. Suntzeff’s autobiography (Series 4) is a particularly interesting piece that is very telling of her experiences as a female doctor both in Russia and the United States.

The Burford papers consist of six series. They contain information on chest and cancer surgery, other areas of surgical practice, the Washington University Department of Surgery, the university administration, the American Board of Thoracic Surgery and files gathered in tribute to Evarts A. Graham. The material includes correspondence, manuscripts, reports, reprints of articles, and films. The Library’s visual collections include photographs illustrating Burford’s career.

This collection consists of seven series, containing correspondence and other related materials from throughout his career, including his terms as the president of the American Association of Thoracic Surgery and editor of the Annals of Thoracic Surgery.

This collection contains records related to Teresa J. Vietti, emeritus professor of pediatrics at Washington Unviersity School of Medicine. The contents of the collection include photographs, correspondence, articles, certificates, biographical information including a CV, and a signed first edition of her textbook Clinical Pediatric Oncology (1973). The majority of the correspondence and articles in the collection pertain to Teresa Vietti's identical twin sister, Ardel, and the search for her wherabouts after she was kidnapped by members of the Viet Cong on May 30, 1962. Some of the correspondence was originally sent to Teresa's parents, Grace and Victor Vietti, and includes investigative reports filed by the Department of State.

This collection consists of manuscript lecture notes by Sidney I. Schwab from classes that he took at Harvard Medical School, 1892-1896. There are six volumes in the collection: 1. Legal Medicine by Dr. Draper, 1895-1896; 2. Dermatology, 1894-1895; 3. Neurology, 1895-1896; 4. Theory & Practice, 1894-1895; 5. Clinical Medicine [by] Dr. Shattuck, Dr. Mason; Clinical Surgery [by] Dr. Porter, 1895; 6. Lab Sketches, 1892-1893.

Reprints of 99 scientific articles authored or co-authored by Goldring, in a bound volume titled "Publications of Sidney Goldring, M.D." Subjects include epilepsy, surgical treatment of epilepsy, seizure disorders, and neuroglia.

The Sherwood Moore papers include correspondence, notes, reports, manuscripts, and reprints of articles. They document Dr. Moore’s interests in radiology, cholescystography, hospital administration, and his involvement in the work of Barnes Hospital, Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology, St. Louis Maternity Hospital, the School of Medicine administration, and the Department of Radiology.

Reprints of 44 journal articles authored or co-authored by Gray. Subjects include studies of the thyroid gland, peptic ulcers, pancreatitis, effects on aging, and diastase (amylases).

Our medical ancestors, the first one hundred years, second draft typescript. No date. A file folder used in transmittal of the item identifies it as a “second draft” of the manuscript. Typescript, ca, 200 leaves. The title page identifies the authors as Samuel D. Soule and Audrey Kargus Berkley. The typescript is not dated.

The Samuel B. Guze Papers are arranged in eleven organizational series. The bulk of this large collection is contained in Series 3 (General Files) and Series 5 (Manuscripts). Included in the Guze Papers are letters, journal articles, and handwritten notes. However, a significant portion of the collection consists of drafts of articles that Dr. Guze and his colleagues compiled for publication, as well as the corresponding data collection documents used for research and analysis. Especially noteworthy in the Guze Papers are the two oral histories taken with Dr. Guze, as well as his personal diary located in Series 10. The collection contains Ruth Silberberg’s records of her collaborative research with her husband, Martin Silberberg, on skeletal aging and growth, and the study of osteoarthritis. It also contains Ruth Silberberg’s work on the relation of diabetes and joint disease after Martin’s death in 1966. The two series include reprints of scientific articles authored or co-authored by Ruth Silberberg, 1961-1976, and her photomicrographs, 1959-[1975]. After the Silberbergs received training in electron microscopy in 1959, the electron micrographs became an important tool in Ruth and Martin’s joint research and important illustrations for their publications of the period.

Of special interest in the Roy R. Peterson papers are manuscripts, photographs, and drawings for two of Dr. Peterson's publications: A Cross-Sectional Approach to Anatomy and Workbook for a Cross-Sectional Approach to Anatomy. The papers are organized in 6 series: 1. Equipment purchases and laboratory design, 1965-1970. 2. Selected student notebooks, 1943-1952. 3. Selected advisee theses, 1970-1971. 4. Study guides in histology, 1951-1957. 5. Selected publications, 1957-1982. . 6. Cross-section photography. 7. Supplement, January, 2005: photographs and corresponding line drawings of cross-sections with identifying labels created in preparation for A Cross-Sectional Approach to Anatomy.

The Ronald G. Evens Papers contain newspaper clippings, scrapbooks, reprints, photographs, tapes, and artifacts which document the career of Dr. Ronald Evens. The material mainly covers the period following Dr. Evens’ graduation from Washington University School of Medicine in 1964, and encompasses his time as Director of Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology, Chairman of the Washington University School of Medicine Department of Radiology, and Radiologist-in-Chief at Barnes and St. Louis Children’s Hospital, beginning in 1971. The material also encompasses Dr. Evens’ time as president of St. Louis Children’s Hospital (1986-1988), and his leadership within professional organizations such as the American College of Radiology and the American Roentgen Ray Society. The collection is divided into six series, with series 1, containing pages from three scrapbooks kept by Dr. Evens, and series 6, containing artifacts belonging to Dr. Evens, being especially of note.

The material in this collection is primarily related to Robert W. Kelley's military service during World War II with the 21st General Hospital. The largest series is series 1, which includes his military service record, his handwritten patient notes, and Special Court-Martial files against members of 21st General Hospital, as well as reunion lists. Series 2 contains photographs primarily related to the 21st, but also includes a selection of unrelated photographs. Series 3 contains publications including The Quarterly of the Phi Beta Pi Medical Fraternity, The Diplomate, and a Commencement program from Washinton University. Finally, series 4 contains a small amount of general correspondence.

This small collection includes medical campus publications and other news articles featuring Dr. Robert Senior, particularly as it relates to his position at Jewish Hospital’s Division of Respiratory and Critical Care and Pulmonary Care Department.  There is also documentation about his prominent role in the 1992 Clover Ball fundraiser which helped to fund a new Respiratory Research Laboratory at Jewish Hospital, as well as other items relating to the general history of Jewish Hospital.  Also included are a diploma and two photographs of Dr. Senior’s father-in-law, Joseph M. Orenstein, a 1930 graduate of the Washington University School of Medicine.

This collection predominantly consists of Dr. Terry’s professional correspondence.  There are multiple series of correspondence which have remained separated and in the same arrangement as they were received by Dr. Terry.  There are also a number of reprints and publications in this collection, most of which were authored by Dr. Terry.  Most of Dr. Terry’s reprints have been bound together and placed into Series 1.  Also of note in this collection are two different series of research notes and drafts of papers on Sprengel’s deformity and fluid in the lungs.
