The collection consists of an unbound typescript manuscript, "History of dermatology in St. Louis, Missouri" (1973, 274 leaves) and a later bound version of the manuscript, "Dermatology and Dermatologists in St. Louis" ([1984], 372 leaves). The earlier version contains photographs, letters, clippings, and other documents. Both versions are indexed. Included are histories of the Barnard Free Skin and Cancer Hospital, the Barnes Hospital dermatology staff, and the St. Louis Dermatological Society, and biographical information about 19th and 20th century St. Louis dermatologists.

This collection contains records from Marcus E. Raichle, MD, Professor of Radiology, Professor of Psychological & Brain Sciences, Professor of Biomedical Engineering, Professor of Neuroscience, Professor of Neurology, the Alan A and Edith L Wolff Distinguished Professor of Medicine, and past head of the Neuroimaging Laboratory Washington University School of Medicine.

He discusses the conflict between the School of Medicine and the board of Barnes Hospitals, and the roles of the individuals involved in the formation of WUMSAH, including Edgar M. Queeny, Edward W. Dempsey, James S. McDonnell, and William H. Danforth.

David E. Kennell Archives on St. Louis Doctors for Peace is largely Kennell's correspondence on the participation of the St. Louis Doctors for Peace in the nationwide Moratorium to End the War in Vietnam held on October 15, 1969. It also contains press releases and press coverage, posters, buttons, bumper stickers, flyers and other documentation about later activities of the St. Louis Doctors for Peace.

This small collection includes a draft and final copy of King's The Executive Faculty: An Administrative Tradition at the School of Medicine of Washington University, 1992.

The Ronald G. Evens Papers contain newspaper clippings, scrapbooks, reprints, photographs, tapes, and artifacts which document the career of Dr. Ronald Evens. The material mainly covers the period following Dr. Evens’ graduation from Washington University School of Medicine in 1964, and encompasses his time as Director of Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology, Chairman of the Washington University School of Medicine Department of Radiology, and Radiologist-in-Chief at Barnes and St. Louis Children’s Hospital, beginning in 1971. The material also encompasses Dr. Evens’ time as president of St. Louis Children’s Hospital (1986-1988), and his leadership within professional organizations such as the American College of Radiology and the American Roentgen Ray Society. The collection is divided into six series, with series 1, containing pages from three scrapbooks kept by Dr. Evens, and series 6, containing artifacts belonging to Dr. Evens, being especially of note.

The files in this collection have been arranged into three organizational series: professional meetings, personal correspondence, and laboratory notebooks and lectures. The Sonnenwirth Papers are comprised of files that were recovered from his office at the Microbiology Laboratory of Jewish Hospital. The original file order and folder titles have been maintained. Note that Series 1 (Professional Meetings), which relates to Sonnenwirth’s activities in various professional associations, comprises a significant portion of this collection. The approximate dates of the contents are indicated in the container listing, which follows.

The collection contains Ruth Silberberg’s records of her collaborative research with her husband, Martin Silberberg, on skeletal aging and growth, and the study of osteoarthritis. It also contains Ruth Silberberg’s work on the relation of diabetes and joint disease after Martin’s death in 1966. The two series include reprints of scientific articles authored or co-authored by Ruth Silberberg, 1961-1976, and her photomicrographs, 1959-[1975]. After the Silberbergs received training in electron microscopy in 1959, the electron micrographs became an important tool in Ruth and Martin’s joint research and important illustrations for their publications of the period.

The Lee Robins Papers consist of twelve organizational series on Lee Robins' research and her family.  The research studies (Series 1) and Interview schedules (Series 2) are the most noteworthy materials and the bulk of the collection.   Also included are family and professional photographs (Series 5), a full set of journal articles (Series 3), and her correspondence (Series 6-8) and manuscripts (Series 4) from her retirement.  Noteworthy in the biographical series (Series 9-10) are the SCRD oral history interviews with Lee Robins (also online) and typed interviews for a biography of Eli Robins.

This collection consists of material mostly from the year 1964, which was the year when the dispute between the medical school and Edgar M. Queeny, speaking for the Barnes Hospital Trustees, reached a point when there was practically no area of the joint operation on which the two institutions could agree.

Material regarding Carl V. Moore’s appointment as the first Vice Chancellor for Medical Affairs is included, as well as correspondence from M. Kenton King, Dr. Dempsey’s successor as Dean. The text of Dr. Dempsey’s resignation as Dean, his curriculum vitae and his obituary from 1975 are also included in the papers.

This collection primarily includes documents and video recordings relating to the study and diagnosis of Landau-Kleffner Syndrome. This syndrome is a rare disorder in which children lose the ability to speak and respond to language and was identified and described by Kleffner and William M. Landau, MD in 1957.

Of note are video recordings of diagnostic and follow-up interviews with a patient who was successfully treated for Landau-Kleffner Syndrome as a child (Series 2: Video Recordings, 1961-2007). Also noteworthy are correspondence and other documents relating to a symposium held in 2007 to mark the 50th anniversary of the identification of Landau-Kleffner Syndrome (Series 1: Documents relating to Landau-Kleffner Syndrome, 1957-2014).

The case of the patient interviewed in the recordings is included in Mantovani J.F. & Landau W.M. (1980). “Acquired Aphasia with Convulsive Disorder: Course and Prognosis.” Neurology, 30 (5), 524–529. In the article the patient is identified as Patient 7.
