Biographical history

Gloria McCanna (nee Dieu) graduated from Washington University School of Nursing in 1945 and was a surgical nurse at Barnes Hospital. She was active supporter, on both the board and as a volunteer, with the SIUE Friends of Lovejoy Library. A long time member of the Collinsville Women’s Club, she joined in the 1950s and remained an active member until last year. Over the years, she also volunteered with the Collinsville History Museum, the Madison County Historical Society and, more recently, with the Belleville Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Elizabeth Haskins Elizabeth Jane "Betty" Haskins, nee O'Neal was born in Cutler, IL in 1924. She grew up in southern Illinois and graduated from Belleville Township High School in 1942. She completed her nursing degree at Washington University School of Nursing in 1945. She was an active volunteer at Memorial Hospital, serving in the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
