The collection also includes sketches and drawings Smith made as she traveled; most of the sketches depict architecture in Bavaria, Germany. Finally, this collection also includes certificates and awards presented to Smith throughout her career, including a sterling silver tray in recognition of her selection by the St. Louis Globe-Democrat as a Woman of Achievement in Science.

This collection consists of 32 images depicting Washington University School of Nursing interiors, events, and students. The bulk of the collection consists of interiors from a promotional booklet produced by Washington Unviersity School of Nursing. These images were individually digitized, and the collection still includes the original booklet. The collection also includes scenes from Washington University School of Nursing homecoming parades, three images of unidentified nursing students, and a composite portrait of the class of June 1953.

Photographs include group portraits with friends and colleagues and portraits of Evarts A. Graham. Drawings are by F.C. Kelly and depict surgical proceedures. Certificates include diplomas, awards, military appointment and discharge certificates, proclamations, certificates of appreciation, and in memorium certificates. Artifacts include a key to the city of Vicennes, Indiana, foreign currency collected during Burford's overseas military service during World War II, and a Society of Thoracic Surgery felt badge.

This collection consists of 32 photographs depicting scenes from the early years of the St. Louis School for Occupational Therapy, which merged with the Occupational Therapy program at Washington University in 1945. Depicted subjects include patients crafting at Robert Koch Hospital, Barnes, Hospital, and St. Louis City Hospital, as well as exhibits of crafts made by patients and O.T. students.

The glass slides in the collection primarily depict demonstrations of a postural drainage table in various positions, and chest x-rays and microscopic views of lung tissue from Dr. James Gilmore.
