Dorothy Wolff earned her undergraduate degree from Smith College in Western Massachusetts, then spent several years in laboratory assistant and instructor positions before becoming interested in otology in the mid-1920s at Johns Hopkins Medical School. She then earned her master's degree in anatomy from the University of Michigan Medical School in 1928. She earned her Ph.D. in anatomy at Washington University School of Medicine, then remained at the school as an assistant professor of applied anatomy in otolaryngology. She moved to New York City in 1942 to write a textbook with pathologist Andrew Eggston, and began a long period of friendship and collaboration with Julius Lempert.

Norman C. (“Tom”) Wolff, Jr. (1925-2009) was the grandson of the founder of the Central Institute for the Deaf, Max A. Goldstein. Wolff served on the CID Board of Directors from 1971 until his death.

Womack, Nathan

Nathan A. Womack graduated from Washington University School of Medicine in 1924. After earning his medical degree and completing his internship and residency at Barnes Hospital, he began teaching at the School of Medicine and rose to the rank of Professor of Surgery. In 1948 he was apointed Professor and Chairman of the Department of Surgery at the University of Iowa, and remained there until he accepted the Chairmanship of the Department of Surgery at the University of North Carolina. He held that position until 1967, when he was named Chairman Emeritus.
