William T. Bowels practiced Urology at Barnes Hospital and Red Bud Community Hospital in Red Bud, Illinois until retiring in 1996. At Barnes, he was on the staff of Dr. Justin Cordonnier, a noted St. Louis urologist. Dr. Bowles was known for his skill as a surgeon. In 1965, he was selected to perform a medical procedure on his former professor, Dr. Cordonnier, who famously supervised and assisted with his own surgical procedure while under local anesthesia. Dr. Bowles was on the staff of Washington University Medical School, and published or co-published more than 20 journal articles on advanced urological techniques. Botwinick, Jack

Jack Botwinick earned a doctorate from New York University in 1953. He was a research scientist in the laboratory on aging at the National Institute of Mental Health and a faulty member in the Gerontological Center at Duke University before coming to Washington University as a professor of psychology in 1968. He earned a joint appointment as professor of neurology in 1982. In addition to his successful psychology textbook, "Aging and Behavior," first published in 1973, Botwinick played a key role in the development of the Washington University Disease Research Center (ADRC). In 1985, the medical school was selected as one of five new Alzheimer's Disease Research Centers and was given a series of major research grants from the National Institute on Aging.
