John Zahorsky immigrated to Steelville, Missouri with his parents from Austria-Hungary when he was seven years old. He graduated from Missouri Medical College in 1895, and after spending a decade teaching at Washington University School of Medicine, he spent 40 years as a Professor of Pediatrics at St. Louis University School of Medicine.
