Double parabolic ear trumpet, 19th century

Nickel plated double parabolic trumpet collapsible device. The design features two opposing parabolic balls with a long earpiece extending from the smaller ball within the receptor part. The main body is very long and contains three sections that collapse into each other. The earpiece section curves slightly and contains a vulcanite eartip.

Silver, nickel plated double parabolic trumpet collapsible device. The design features two opposing parabolic balls with a long earpiece extending from the smaller ball within the receptor part. Curved earpiece has ivory or plastic ear tip and also has a ring soldered on the base to allow the user to wear the device around their neck with a string/cord.

Flower auricle or Aurolese phone, ca. 1802

One aurolese phone floral receptor. The trumpet is shaped like a flower with a fluted funnel leading to the tube which is inserted in the ear canal. The flower is painted white with yellow tipped stamens inside the flower. The earpiece is painted a light green to resemble a stem. The flower is held in place with a head band. At the other end of the headband is a flat piece.
