Diploma, family photographs, biographical document, and dental instruments relating to the life and career of William James Sone, Class of 1901, Washington University Dental Department.

This collection consists of 8 photographs of interiors of the Washington University School of Medicine Anatomy Department on the third and fourth floors of the North Building. Views include the Dissecting Room, Pathology lecture room, Embalming Room, ampitheater, and cadaver storage area.

Most of the documents are course catalogs or commencement programs which are arranged in short series according to academic name. There are only a few unpublished items in the collection, including the notes of a Barnes medical student (1899-1900) and several Barnes Dental College contracts (1908-1915 with related letter).

This small collection includes a notebook kept by William P. Rowland with brief notes on obstetrical patients, 1888-1916. The notebook also includes 75 pages of notes in German, circa 1885.

The collection also includes a reprint of an address given by Rowland at the 1907 meeting of the North Missouri Medical Association.

This small collection contains letters to Cook from John H. Kennerly, Dean of the WU Dental School; Charles Rice, Secretary, The Jewish Hospital of St. Louis; and Philip A. Shaffer, Dean Washington University Medicine School, concerning Cook's ineligibility to service in the US Army Medical Corps due to the need of the Schools and Hospital to retain him for medical service, 1917. Also included is a handwritten draft of a letter, presumably by Cook, stating he is a conscientious objector and willing only to provide medical care to soliders unable to return to active duty, August 27, 1918. Includes a reprint of the article: Taussig, Albert E., and Jerome E. Cook. 'The Determination of the Diastolic Pressure in Aortic Regurgitation,' reprinted from the Archives of Internal Medicine, May 1913, v.11, p.542-550.

This collection consists of 18 copy negatives made from photographs related to Eunice Holmes' service with Base Hospital 21 during World War I.

This collection consists of 372 photographs, drawings, glass lantern slides, and realia, including a silver "mess cup" and two other silver cups won by the ROTC Medical Unit at Washington University. The objects in the collection depict scenes from Base Hospital 21 in Rouen, France, as well as reunions the members of Base Hospital 21 had many years later. Many of the photographs were originally bound in two albums, and the photographs remain mounted on the unbound album pages that include typed captions. Drawings include sketches of the Base Hospital 21 buildings and grounds, cartoons depicting life as a personnel member of Base Hospital 21, and watercolor sketches of fluoroscopic equipment invented and operated by Dr. Edwin C. Ernst. The majority of the drawings are now housed on glass lantern slides.
