This small collection comprises records from Dr. English's time as a medical student at Missouri Medical College, including lecture tickets, lecture schedules, and correspondence. The collection also includes photographs of a classmate, Charles E. Riseling, and a notice of certification for the practice of medicine in Illinois.

The collection contains letters from Joseph C. Hinsey to Mr. and Mrs. Carlton Hunt, William Dock, and others. Hinsey’s address at Joseph Erlanger’s memorial service is included.

This small collection includes manuscripts and research materials (primarily in German) for two unpublished articles titled: “Die Aerzteheiligen Kosmas und Damian; ihre Wunderheilungen in Licht alter and neuer Medicin” and "Ueber Skelettdarstellungen aus der Antike und ihre Bedeutung fuer die Medizinsgeschichte."

With the editorial assistance of Washington University’s former director of the medical library Estelle Brodman, the article on St. Cosmas and St. Damian (patron saints of physicians, surgeons, and pharmacists) was published by the _Medizin Historische Journal_in 1974 (Volume 9, pages 255-317). The second paper is on the subject of illustrations of skeletons in antiquity.

The materials for both papers include photographs and other graphic materials for the plates, letters concerning the plates, notes, and draft manuscripts.

This collection contains the professional and personal papers of Katherine Bain, MD. The records of Dr. Bain’s professional career focus primarily on her work for the Children’s Bureau in the United States Department of Health, Education, and Welfare and on her work for UNICEF. The records of Dr. Bain’s personal life are equally robust and are reflective of her long life and close relationships with friends and family members.

Records of her professional activities include correspondence, reprints of publications, oral histories, and photographs. Of note are two oral histories focused on Dr. Bain’s career and the history of the Children’s Bureau that were conducted in the 1990s (see Series 4). Also noteworthy are photographs and 35mm slides which capture different periods of Dr. Bain’s career, especially her work with UNICEF (see Series 6). Dr. Bain’s curriculum vitae, lists of her publications, and other biographical materials are included in Series 1.

Records of Dr. Bain’s personal life include correspondence, oral histories, and photographs. Of particular note is an issue of a family newsletter, “The Bain Banner,” published on the occasion of Dr. Bain’s 100th birthday (see Series 1). It contains biographical stories about Dr. Bain and recollections from friends and family. Also of note is an interview with Dr. Bain and her sister, Maria Bain White, conducted by a family member in the 1990s (see Series 4). The photographs and 35mm slides depict the long span of Dr. Bain’s life and include photographs of Dr. Bain as a young child, many of her beloved pet dogs, and her close friend and housemate Christine Glass (see Series 5).

Records of Dr. Bain’s long friendship with Christine Glass are sprinkled throughout the collection. In addition to the photographs and 35mm slides in Series 5, the collection includes correspondence from Ms. Glass (see Series 1), and a photograph of Dr. Bain and Ms. Glass in Italy (see Series 6).

This small collection contains two notebooks belonging to Leland Keller, a WU School of Dental Medicine Class of 1937 graduate.  Also included in this collection are a six class notebooks belonging to William August Heinritz, who graduated from the Dental Department of Marion Sims College of Medicine in 1901.

This small collection consists of three series. Series 1 consists of biographical information about Louis Crusius collected by the St. Louis Medical Society. Series 2 includes two publications with illustrations by Louis Cruisius, and Series 3 contains the Antikamnia calendars illustrated by Cruisus.

The collection contains letters, newspaper clippings, and other memorabilia written by and pertaining to LH service with Base Hospital 21’s nursing corp, 1917-1919. The original donation also contained photographs which have been removed to Visual Collection 322.

This small collection includes a small scrapbook kept by Luna Thomas, a 1927 graduate of the St. Louis City Hospital Training School for Nurses.  The scrapbook includes the program for the 1927 graduation ceremony, state board exam grades, various alumni banquet programs, and other memorabilia.
