This collection consists of the Saint Louis University campus publication titled Parameters.

This small collection contains records from a memorial service held for Washington University School of Medicine first-year medical students Adam El-Khishin, Danny Lee, and Candice Lin. Records include a memorial program, guest book, photographs, and collected memories from classmates.

This collection contains the professional and personal papers of Katherine Bain, MD. The records of Dr. Bain’s professional career focus primarily on her work for the Children’s Bureau in the United States Department of Health, Education, and Welfare and on her work for UNICEF. The records of Dr. Bain’s personal life are equally robust and are reflective of her long life and close relationships with friends and family members.

Records of her professional activities include correspondence, reprints of publications, oral histories, and photographs. Of note are two oral histories focused on Dr. Bain’s career and the history of the Children’s Bureau that were conducted in the 1990s (see Series 4). Also noteworthy are photographs and 35mm slides which capture different periods of Dr. Bain’s career, especially her work with UNICEF (see Series 6). Dr. Bain’s curriculum vitae, lists of her publications, and other biographical materials are included in Series 1.

Records of Dr. Bain’s personal life include correspondence, oral histories, and photographs. Of particular note is an issue of a family newsletter, “The Bain Banner,” published on the occasion of Dr. Bain’s 100th birthday (see Series 1). It contains biographical stories about Dr. Bain and recollections from friends and family. Also of note is an interview with Dr. Bain and her sister, Maria Bain White, conducted by a family member in the 1990s (see Series 4). The photographs and 35mm slides depict the long span of Dr. Bain’s life and include photographs of Dr. Bain as a young child, many of her beloved pet dogs, and her close friend and housemate Christine Glass (see Series 5).

Records of Dr. Bain’s long friendship with Christine Glass are sprinkled throughout the collection. In addition to the photographs and 35mm slides in Series 5, the collection includes correspondence from Ms. Glass (see Series 1), and a photograph of Dr. Bain and Ms. Glass in Italy (see Series 6).

The St. Louis Society for Internal Medicine records are comprised of mostly organizational records including meeting minutes, agendas, and member rosters. Another significant part of this collection is made up of correspondence, curriculum vitas of members, and the text of lectures given at meetings. Also noteworthy is a typescript volume of early historical sketches, a volume on officers, membership and attendance records, dues and assessments, and legal documents including the articles of agreement and original by-laws.

This collection contains records related to Lindsay J. Kirkham, Jr., a 1946 graduate of Washington University School of Medicine. Collection materials include academic and military service records, certificates, membership cards, two patent applications, a patent for an Electrocardiographic Switching System (patent #3343528), two CVs, a certificate of copyright registration, and an obituary.

This small collection contains records relating to James T. Brown’s service in the military and career as a surgeon, his involvement in the music group the Singing Doctors, and his writing. Records include copies of correspondence he sent to his parents while serving in the Korean War; a copy of an oral history interview transcript; two LP records produced by the Singing Doctors, photographs, and collected publications about the group; and two medical humor books published by Dr. Brown.

This small collection consists of pharmaceutical items from the S. Pfeiffer Manufacturing Company (3965 Laclede Avenue), owned and operated by Adolph Pfeiffer. The material includes three funnels used for filling pill bottles; a wooden herb and powder mixing trough; cast iron cork press; three wooden pill counting shovels; and one roll of Schoenfeld K & L Tea labels.

The Becker Library no longer holds the archival records for the American Academy of Neurology.

Collection includes an 8.5x11 portrait photograph of Dr. Jones and a Second Century award that was given to Dr. Jones by Washington University.

This small collection includes Jesse Marguerite (Marge) Gowan’s Jewish Hospital nursing uniform, a 1932 class photograph of the Jewish Hospital School of Nursing, and a portrait photograph of Marge Gowan wearing her Jewish Hospital of St. Louis student nursing uniform.

The diary of Olga A. Krieger, consists of approximately 25 typed pages of reminiscences for 1917-1919 in rough chronological order. Krieger was a Red Cross nurse who worked with Base Hospital 21 in Rouen, France during WWI. Three other nurses in her squad are mentioned frequently in the text: Marie Kammeyer, Louise Kenninger, and Cordelia Ranz.
