Bernard Becker papers acquired by rare book librarian in Rare Book Accession 2008-001 and accessioned as Archives Accession 2010-004:
1) One bound volume of congratulatory letters given to Dr. Becker on the occasion of his 25th anniversary as chair of the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, April 27th, 1979.

2) Two 5x7 inch silver gelatin photographs of the staff of the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, the first dated circa 1954, the second dated circa 1979.
3) One pamphlet for the occasion of the 25th anniversary including a list of contributors toward an endowment fund in honor of Bernard Becker, April 27th, 1979.

Biographical sketch of Isaac Alexander Bigger, Jr., M.D. (1893-1955), written at the request of the American Association of Thoracic Surgery. Bigger was professor and chief of the Department of Surgery of the Medical College of Virginia from 1930-1955; he served as the 27th president of the American Association for Thoracic Surgery.

This collection contains two folders.

The John D. Vavra Papers are organized into 4 Series: 1. Correspondence to Family Members During Military Service, 1946-1947. 2. Correspondence, 1964-1986. 3. Manuscript for Unpublished, Unfinished Book on Medical Ethics, 1980. 4. Letters to Margaret Wallace (Margaret Vaughn) 1965-1968.

Collection includes correspondence with the Washington University School of Medicine Archives staff regarding 21st General Hospital, its history, records, members, and reunions. Also includes unpublished manuscripts about the 21st General Hospital, correspondence between Cady and other members of the unit, and reprints of several journal articles authored by Cady in the 1920s. "A Cady Saga" is a family genealogy completed by Cady in 1983.

The items in this collection represent different aspects of Dr. Schwartz’s personal and professional life. Series 1 (General Hospital 21) and Series 2 (Consultant in Neurosurgery, Vietnam) contain files relating to Dr. Schwartz’s military service. Another important segment of this collection is comprised of his lecture notes in Series 3. The remaining series include photographs, certificates, films and videotapes, memorabilia, and the many awards Dr. Schwartz received throughout his lifetime.

Reprints, abstracts, research notes covering Burch's work in the fields of nutrition and metabolism. Correspondence files are arranged chronologically.

This small collection is comprised of records Dr. Abrams kept during his service in the U. S. Army from 1941-1945.

The papers include reprints of short publications by Carleton C. Hunt, 1947-1982. Also included is the typescript of a biographical memoir, "Herbert Spencer Gasser, July 5, 1888-May 11, 1963," by Carlton C. Hunt and Merrill Chase, the National Academy of Sciences Biographical Memoir series.

Collection includes information regarding the Barnes Hospital-Joseph C. Edwards' Fund for the Care of Patients, including copies of Edwards' "The Art of Medicine, Part I: interpersonal relations between patient and doctor, and Part II: interpersonal relations between patient and hospital" (8 leaves) and "The Care of the Patient and the Art of Medicine, Part II: the cost of medical care" (23 leaves). Also included are materials relating to Dr. Edwards' service in World War II in General Hospital 21 and an undated curriculum vitae.
