Louise Hilligass Papers

The collection contains letters, newspaper clippings, and other memorabilia written by and pertaining to LH service with Base Hospital 21’s nursing corp, 1917-1919. The original donation also contained photographs which have been removed to Visual Collection 322.

Nu Sigma Phi Records

The Nu Sigma Phi minute book, 1922-1924, consists of one document series organized chronologically. The minutes include information on the sorority’s business meetings, projects, activities, and membership. The records document the origin and development of the Washington University Lambda chapter during these years and the selection of women medical students, staff, and medical faculty for the sorority.

Alpha Omega Alpha Fraternity Records

The record group concerns the selection of medical students for the society and the development of the local chapter. The records list many members who became prominent in their fields. The Alpha Omega Alpha fraternity records consist of three volumes, 1905-1957, that include the initial charter and constitution and by-laws, minutes of chapter meetings, treasury records, chapter membership lists, other by-laws, correspondence, and publications. Eunice Holmes Sanders Papers

This collection consists primarily of correspondence to and from Miss Holmes during her service as a Red Cross nurse in Rouen, France. Also included are newspaper clippings, personnel records, photographs, and the diary Miss Holmes kept from 1917-1918.

Robert E. Schlueter Papers

The collection contains three versions of Schlueter’s autobiography, fragmentary incoming correspondence, notes, and drafts. Also included are reprints of Dr. Schlueter’s writings and addresses on medical history and medicine. His autobiography is well-written and revealing of his likes, dislikes, loyalties, the details of his medical practice, travels and post-graduate studies abroad, and his work in various St. Louis hospitals and for Washington University. Also included is the St. Louis Medical Society Library correspondence concerning his estate.
