Scientific photographs, 1946-1965.

Scientific photographs consist largely of black and white prints of chest x-rays or radiograms showing chest abnormalities and diseases. A mimeographed handout from a 1962 clinicopathologic Conference and an article transcribing a 1956 clinicopathologic conference are included. Many photos carry Washington University School of Medicine Department of Illustration numbers and presumably were used to illustrate articles such as the reprint in Folder 4. Annotations on the photos in AG's hand include diagnosis, clinical and pathologic features and often a case history. Microfilmed. Accession 1974-008. Because patient names are on the front or reverse of the print, the series is restricted for privacy reasons. See the archivist for details.

Scientific Publications, 1924-1955.

The short publications are bound together in four chronologically-arranged volumes. WBK's sole monograph, Thyroid function and its possible role in vascular degeneration (1951), is in its original binding. The bound volumes are located in Box 3.

Scrapbook

This series includes two scrapbooks that are very similar to each other. One exists only on microfilm, and the other is a hardcopy of the scrapbook. The microfilm version includes a few extra items not available in the hardcopy version. The scrapbooks includes photographs of Dr. Ettman, brochures and pamphlets from the A. S. Aloe Company, newsletters and newspaper clippings, letters to Dr. Ettman and his wife, obituaries, and condolence letters to Mrs. Ettman.

Scrapbook and Photographs, 1927-1978.

One scrapbook titled "The Obstetrical Anthology" kept by St. Louis Maternity Hospital residents, and two group portraits. The scrapbook includes photographs and lists of physicians, residents, and interns as well as illustrations, poems, skits, jokes, and other writings.

Many of the illustrations and writings kept in the scrapbook are vulgar and misogynistic in nature, including, for example, offensive rules written by the obstetrics house staff in 1927 intended for their female colleague Frances Helen Stewart, MD.

Scrapbooks about Alfred Goldman, 1895-1974.

This series includes two scrapbooks: Alfred Goldman Scrapbook, 1895-1973 (Scrapbook 1) and Memorial Scrapbook, Alfred Goldman 1973-1974 (Scrapbook 2). Scrapbook 1 was microfilmed in the Spring of 1974 and returned to Miriam Goldman. Scrapbook 1 contains photographs, programs, newspaper clippings, and letters from patients, colleagues, and friends. In rough chronological order from image 29. Correspondence with Carl V. Moore suggests that AG kept the first scrapbook himself. Scrapbook 1 is only available on microfilm. The contents of Scrapbook 2 include letters of condolence addressed to Miriam Goldman. The letters have been put into folders and have not been microfilmed. Accession 1975-014, 2006-005.
