Collection includes Curtman’s valedictory address to the 1869 class of the Missouri Medical College, a scrapbook of obituaries and biographical articles about Curtman, and an 1865 United States internal revenue license issued to Curtman to practice as a physician in Memphis.

Scrapbooks compiled by Frank J. Lutz, 1876-1915, a volume called "Doctors registered with the Missouri Board of Health, and letters and reports concerning a proposed world medical conference to be held during the St. Louis Worlds Fair, 1904.

The scrapbooks document Lutz's professional life and interests in documents such as clippings, invitations, menus, letters, and certificates. In the scrapbooks are memorabilia of Lutz professional associations meetings and St. Louis medical schools and hospitals where he was on the staff or faculty. Newspaper coverage of physicians, medical matters, and medical societies, colleges, and hospitals is largely local but also national and international.

The Shaffer papers include ten document series including correspondence, diaries, scrapbooks, short publications, notes, and his Ph.D. dissertation. Major subjects are his research work in biochemistry and the administration of WUSM as dean and head of the Department of Biological Chemistry. His work with Barnes Hospital, St. Louis Children’s Hospital, American Society of Biological Chemists and the U. S. Army in World War I are also subjects.

In 2006, this collection contained many deteriorated brittle carbon copies on newsprint and newspaper clippings that chipped or fractured with minimal handling. The acidic newsprint had stained surrounding documents and was losing contrast due to browning. Archives staff made acid-free photocopies to preserve content and contrast for future use and preservation microfilming.

A collection relating to Beatrice Schulz’s schooling, career, her work as a consultant in Pakistan in 1967, and “historical material” on the Program in Physical Therapy at Washington University School of Medicine.  Photographs of former medical directors and program administrators, various group portraits from organizations to which Schulz belonged have been placed in the visual collection.  Various certificates have been retained with the collection.

The collection contains Lorraine Lake’s MA thesis and PhD dissertation, correspondence from when she was faculty in the Program in Physical Therapy and associate director of the Irene Walter Johnson Institute of Rehabilitation, and a scrapbook and other materials related to the IWJ Institute of Rehabilitation.
