The papers document Cordonnier’s research in urology, his teaching and membership in the Clinical Society of Genito-urinary Surgeons. They include correspondence and reprints of articles. Selected photographs and certificates of Cordonnier are located in the visual collections of the Becker Library.

The collection consists of eight series. The attempt has been made to maintain the original order as much as possible, and particularly in the correspondence and scientific data series. Much of the material, however, was transmitted and accessioned in small portions in the years 1963-1966, and in some cases items were placed on display in the Library before being arranged in series. The microfilming, moreover, was carried out before the final arrangement and analysis of the collection could be made; somewhat premature filming decisions have, therefore, affected the final arrangement that is presented here and some items are missing or poorly described on the film.

This collection consists of reprints, a bibliography, and biographical information on John T. Hodgen. Also included in the collection are original letters by him, a correspondence file on the Hodgens by descendant Stuart Mudd, reports and exhibits of an ethics case in 1867, and material on the Hodgen lectures, 1922-1982.

Accession 2018-005 is unprocessed and includes a number of items relating to John T. Hodgen including drafts of patient cases and scientific articles for publication, postcards and hotel receipts from travel abroad to Europe (Scotland, Ireland, and France), letters from relatives in Elizabethtown and Hodgenville, Kentucky, as well as letters Hodgen wrote while traveling from Missouri to California on gold mining expedition. Also included as part of this accession is a dozen or more letters written by Colonel John J. Mudd to his mother Eliza Mudd. Colonel Mudd was Dr. Hodgen’s brother in law who died in battle during the civil war. A smaller number of items were included in this accession including John M. Hodgen’s law degree from Washington University (Dr. Hodgen’s son) and his photographs of his family.

This collection consists of 24 facsimiles of course cards, order of lecture cards, and a matriculation card from Gustav Baumgarten's studies at St. Louis Medical College, and 1 membership card to the St. Louis Medical Society.

This collection consists of 34 certificates from the Baumgarten family, including diplomas, membership certificates, Board certifications, and various other certificates from Germany and the United States.

This small collection includes a few of Dr. Tuholske's reprints as well as other articles written about him. Reprints, addresses, and manuscript papers associated with surgical pathology, the lives of Tuholske and his colleagues, and Missouri Medical College. Many manuscripts are on the letterhead of the Surgical and Gynecological Hospital where Tuholske was affiliated.

Most of the documents are course catalogs or commencement programs which are arranged in short series according to academic name. There are only a few unpublished items in the collection, including the notes of a Barnes medical student (1899-1900) and several Barnes Dental College contracts (1908-1915 with related letter).

The Leo Loeb papers consist of Dr. Loeb’s note books, lectures, research notes and manuscripts,  and scrapbooks. The series of personal correspondence is largely incoming and fragmentary with some letters filed in  Series 8: Bibliographical notes on the medical literature, manuscripts, research pathology data and occasional related correspondence, Undated & 1921-1958. The papers also include notes and drafts for two unpublished books. One is on mental processes and titled _Psychical Goods_or _The Imponderables. _The other unfinished book is on cancer.

The collection consists of an unbound typescript manuscript, "History of dermatology in St. Louis, Missouri" (1973, 274 leaves) and a later bound version of the manuscript, "Dermatology and Dermatologists in St. Louis" ([1984], 372 leaves). The earlier version contains photographs, letters, clippings, and other documents. Both versions are indexed. Included are histories of the Barnard Free Skin and Cancer Hospital, the Barnes Hospital dermatology staff, and the St. Louis Dermatological Society, and biographical information about 19th and 20th century St. Louis dermatologists.

Photocopies of memoir and letters of Barbee dating from the mid-1800s. Memoir includes descriptions of the cholera epidemics of 1849 and 1866.

Publications by Gee, including short academic papers, articles about the hospital, and two narrative histories of the Jewish Hospital of St. Louis, "216 S. K." (1981) and "Working Wonders: a history of the Jewish Hospital of St. Louis, 1891-1992" (1992). Also included are speeches by Gee (1965-1980).

Summary: Collection includes a manuscript on astigmatism, a book of patient records, and a selection of publications on various ophthalmological problems and hospital administration.

This collection consists of 23 35mm slides created for a lecture given by Estelle Brodman at the Washington University School of Medicine Library on March 8, 1976. The lecture discussed Thomas Jefferson's contributions to the develpement of American medicine, and especially his connection to medicine in St. Louis.
