This collection includes items relating to BJC Health System (later BJC HealthCare), with a particular focus on the hospitals of the Washington University Medical Campus and Barnes-Jewish Hospital. Though the collection is mainly composed of items dating from just before and following the creation of Barnes-Jewish, Inc. in March of 1993, there are also some items included for organizational purposes from Barnes Hospital and Jewish Hospital prior to their affiliation and eventual merger in 1996. Of particular note are the biographical files ( series 2) of prominent Barnes Hospital, Jewish Hospital, Barnes-Jewish Hospital, and BJC HealthCare employees, affiliates, and volunteers. Also significant are the Barnes-Jewish Hospital Board of Directors materials ( series 4), which include those from the first year of Barnes-Jewish Hospital’s existence following the 1996 merger, and materials relating to the merger and post-merger integration (series 10). The collection also includes publications, photographs, newspaper clippings, scrapbooks, artifacts, audio-visual materials, and staff lists, as well as files related to Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital and Washington University.

Lee N. Robins Papers

The Lee Robins Papers consist of twelve organizational series on Lee Robins' research and her family.  The research studies (Series 1) and Interview schedules (Series 2) are the most noteworthy materials and the bulk of the collection.   Also included are family and professional photographs (Series 5), a full set of journal articles (Series 3), and her correspondence (Series 6-8) and manuscripts (Series 4) from her retirement.  Noteworthy in the biographical series (Series 9-10) are the SCRD oral history interviews with Lee Robins (also online) and typed interviews for a biography of Eli Robins.

Washington University School of Nursing Photographs and Artifacts

This collection consists of 604 photographs and artifacts from the Washington University School of Nursing. The photographs are primarily group portraits and composite of various entering and graduating classes. Depicted subjects also include interior and exterior views of the school and the Nurse's Residence, including photographs taken for promotional materials. This collection also includes two student nurse uniforms, a nursing cap, and a flag commemorating the nurses who served with Base Hospital 21. This collection also includes a group of 35 mm slides that were shown at an alumnae reunion in 1995. This collection also includes a silver coffee urn presented to the School of Nursing by the class of 1929.

This small collection comprises a number of Dr. Berg’s notebooks.  They include his typed and handwritten notes on topics such as anatomy, bacteriology, chemistry, and pharmacology.  Of particular note is the “Guide to the Study of Neurology” (Box 2, Folder 4) which was produced by the WUSM Department of Anatomy, but includes notes and drawings added by Berg.
